WELCOME BACK HOME AUSTRALIANS!
By Ishana Katriar
Everyone knows the devastating impact that COVID has had on the world, but no one knows it more than people who were displaced from their home towns, state, and countries. As the official lockdown started in March 2020 for the planet, it’s been quite a tough journey for people who were traveling away from home and wanted to come back. Countries shut down flights and all means of transportation to keep citizens safe. Thankfully, after more than 18 months, things slowly (but surely!) are returning to normal.
Australians have been under strict lockdowns for a while to keep the pandemic from spreading across the country. From today onwards, citizens don’t need a government exemption to leave Australia. They can leave the country (on the condition that they are fully vaccinated). This also allows Australian citizens to come back into the country. Australia had sealed its borders for citizens that had left the country before the pandemic.
Since Australians can return to the country now, it’s been an emotional rollercoaster. Families and friends are having reunions in the Melbourne Airport, thankful that they can finally see each other.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison stated earlier that it’s “time to give Australians their lives back”. The change has been met with delight from those who had been separated from their loved ones for too long. However, Australians under the age of 12 will be excluded from the vaccination rule and need to be quarantined.
This is a great start, and a step closer to normalcy for Australians.
BTS’ Jimin and V’s song “Friends” To Be Part Of “The Eternals” Movie
By Kaeya Merchant
Sung by BTS members Park Jimin and Kim Taehyung (more commonly known as “V”), the song “Friends” will be featured in the upcoming Marvel movie, The Eternals.
Jimin was one of the producers and co-writers of the song which was part of BTS’ Map of the Soul: 7 album and was released in February 2020. The song itself is incredibly personal to the two members, filled with years worth of inside jokes. Many people are wondering how the song would fit into the movie but viewers will just have to wait and watch!!!
The list of songs on the soundtrack have been unveiled and there are quite a few familiar ones! Alongside “Friends” other tracks like “Time” By Pink Floyd and “Juice” By Lizzo will also be included in the movie!!
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time a BTS member has been associated with a Marvel film. BTS’ RM, also known as Kim Namjoon, worked on a single titled “Fantastic” for the movie Fantastic Four.
The 26th Marvel movie releases on the 5th of November, 2021. Directed by Chloe Zhao, an Oscar winning director. The movie features Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani and Lauren Ridloff among others. It introduces a new team of superheroes to the Marvel cinematic universe. Can’t wait to watch it!
